To Whom It May Concern,
Please excuse Joe from fitness and/or gym today. He is unable to participate due to today being picture retakes.
While I understand the health benefits of running laps for 10 minutes, I think it's a great concept, however, shelling out $30 for the smallest package of mediocre photos is a high concern for me today.
In anticipation of a lack of mid day grooming he would need for a post workout photo shoot, I felt it necessary to take the steps to avoiding the situation all together.
I have attached my proof of why retakes is necessary for us today so you can see for yourself on why a sit out is needed today.
First I'd like to show you an example of what Joe would have looked when I sent him to school.
Notice how his hair is straight, his shirt on proper? Also take note of his even complexion. This is a perfect example of Joe in the morning. Before fitness/gym.
This is Joe after fitness/gym...
The sweaty hair clumps, the hanging off the shoulder shirt, and while hard to tell in the cell phone shot, the red face. I can all but smell the sweat that is still on that poor boys temples. Is that steam still lingering on his glasses?
I'm sure you can see why I am reluctant to pay $30 for this photo and why I am taking such drastic measures today so as not to have this happen again.
I say next year, have a fitness/gym day off on picture day. There's no need when fancy clothes and pretty hair is all the rage that day.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
KClinard

The sad part of this is that you would be forced to write a letter such as this. Shouldn't 'they' already plan for this as you so eloquently stated at the end? A little common sense goes a long way.
ReplyDeleteI know! I really did write him a letter stating it's just for picture reasons and if they saw his first photo they'd understand. I added that if the photo is done before fitness, then he can participate.
ReplyDeleteAmen Sista!! Every year I am so afraid to look at the school pictures when they come home..Joshua never seems to look like he does when he leaves! I hope retakes come out better for you!
ReplyDeleteCommon sense used in a school? Have you people lost your minds?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Lola
What happens to our children (particularly their hair) from the time they leave the house until they get in front of the camera? My daughter's hair looks perfectly fine at home, but then I get the picture and I just shake my head.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line was "Is that steam still lingering on his glasses?" You are awesome and hilarious!!!
I'm glad I'm not alone! I remember in my school, even if you did the retakes, your first photo was the one to make it in the yearbook.
ReplyDeleteNot awesome.
Following you back this morning. Thanks for popping in.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad when you have to write a letter and include photos to prove your point!
ReplyDeleteFollowing you back.
Regina, the Crazy Nuts Mom
Thanks for the follow...now following you back!
ReplyDeleteCommon sense AND a little effort would go a long way in this situation; "They" should have prepared for the picture day that "they" scheduled. However, I must say, your little boy is adorable in both pictures-the before gym pic & post gym pic!!! :-)

HA! I did the same thing...especially considering my daughter was on her swim unit at the time! There was absolutely NO WAY I was going to slave over a hairstyle the night before, just to have her jump in a pool the period before picture time...I don't know why they just didn't cancel gym or have the pics taken beforehand...it's really the schools fault...I understand your pain ;-)

I am jealous of your school doing re-takes. My son is actually not smiling at all in his photo and his school doesn't do re-takes. My father lives 2500 miles away and wants the pic anyway since he thinks it's funny :) Thanks for following my blog, following you back, have a great weekend!

I can't believe they would take the pictures after fitness class. Who does that? I remember when I was younger, they'd take it first thing in the morning. Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm following you back. :)
